Home Is Where

A few months ago I wrote a post about how I was having a hard time Getting to Know a New City and how much I missed Charlotte. Well this past weekend we went back to Charlotte to spend some time with our families before Christmas and I realized that Charlotte and the surrounding area is no longer home for us. Home is where…

  • My bed is.
  • I can take off my pants and run around with no shame.
  • I can hear waves kissing the shore in the distance if the conditions are just right.
  • Palm trees sway in the breeze.
  • My office has a view that includes Spanish moss hanging from live oaks.

  • Its 80 degrees 3 days before Christmas.
  • The smell is familiar and comforting.
  • The star on the Christmas tree cants dangerously to the right, no matter how many times we attempt to make it stand at attention.
  • The design style is mix-n-match eclectic but comfortable. I prefer to decorate with memories.

Where is home to you?

  1. i love this!

    home is where:

-i can stay in for 3 days straight and wear the same clothes and robe without judgement (except from my husband who felt that our family needed to hear that my sweat pants and robe needed a break from me - jerk! LOL).

    -my family is

    -my bed is

    -i can workout any time!

    happy holidays!

    Vodka and Soda

  2. Home is where I can snuggle with my pup and watch as many hours of TV/movies that I want in a day. :)

  3. Aw love this. So glad you find your new city your "home" now.

I keep having to move every year or two since I live in NYC and rent is dumb expensive, but I am looking forward to creating a real, stable "home" in a few years. Home will be wherever my future family is :-)

  4. I'm completely with you on the pants thing! Lol. I still call Tennessee home half of the time because that's where my family is but Charlotte is home now too, especially with little man!

  5. "I can take off my pants and run around with no shame." So... home is anywhere/everywhere?! Because that's what I'm taking away from that. ;P
Home is where my bed is. And my pup. :) OH and I guess I should throw in Pete so I don't look like a total bitch. :)

  6. Awww this post is perfect!! Something I need to remember, that home isn't necessarily where you grew up. I have a hard time realizing that home now is where my pups are, in Dallas!

  7. Isn't it interesting how you have to go away from something sometimes to realize how familiar it's become? Love that the beach feels like home now!

That's probably one of the toughest things about living with my parents. It both feels like home and doesn't at the same time because it's not my home. 23 is a strange age...haha

  8. Home is where my underwear is.. lol.

    Love this post!

  9. Home is where I can wear PJ bottoms and no bra anytime of the day and no one cares.

  10. I'm glad you consider it your home now! I agree with the person who said home is where the underwear is haha

  11. Comfortable is the best kind of home design!

  12. I missed home so much this past week! Home is where the kitty is, I can walk around sans bra, and I can leave little messes behind me without feeling guilty (okay maybe a little guilty...)
